![]() Sun River is excited to present its newest arrival! The ‘Bella Anna’ Hydrangea! Exclusively at Sun River Gardens, the ‘Bella Anna’ Hydrangea is the newest addition to the Endless Summer Collection of Hydrangeas! It’s also the first Pink Annabelle added to the collection. "What’s so great about the Endless Summer Collection of Hydrangeas," you ask? Well, let me tell you! They bloom all season long--from summer through late fall--they love part day sun (no late afternoon sun, sorry!), bloom on first year wood (so, unlike other hydrangeas, they don’t need last season’s growth to produce new blooms), and are really just an all-out easy-care shrub that would make a great addition to any landscape! A Guide To Endless Summer Hydrangeas:Planting
Find a location in your garden that receives around 6 hours of sunlight (can take less, but just make sure that it’s not receiving hot afternoon sun) Dig a hole one and a half times wider than the container the plant came in. After your hole has been dug, you are going to want to mix with your existing/natural soil, 1 – 1.5 cubic bag of acidic based planting mix, such as Master Nursery’s Acid Planting Mix. Before placing your plant in the hole, mix in 1 box of Dr. Earth Organic #4--Rhododendron, Azalea, and Camellia Fertilizer. Remove the plant from the container and loosen the sides and bottom of the root ball. Center the plant in the hole. Top of root ball should be level with the surrounding soil surface. Fill in around the roots with soil, and then firmly tamp down. Water your plant thoroughly. Refill with soil if necessary, then water again. Add 2-3 inches of mulch (acid based planting mix) around the base of the
plant, keeping Water
Water your hydrangea about every third or fourth day for the next few weeks. After that, you should only need to water when necessary. For instance, during those times when the weather becomes exceptionally hot. (July and August). Fertilizing
Fertilizing is a great idea for when initially planting, and then each Spring thereafter. Organic and acidic based would be ideal. Again, use Dr. Earth #4. Pruning
Unlike other Hydrangeas, your Endless Summer will bloom on both old and new wood. To encourage new buds, deadhead the spent flowers. This will boost new buds to set and re-bloom throughout the year. Cutting blooms actually encourages more blossoms. Do remove spent blossoms in spring.
